I change it pretty often, but you'd be safe at the manufacturer's recommendations. Here in Tulsa it gets hot (104 today) in the summer, so I try to thicken up a bit and go with 20w-50. As it cools off, I go back to the recommneded 10w-40. So I'd recommend at least 2x per year (and I do the filter, oil, and both "o" rings) at a minimum. But If I have a big ride coming up (rally or some military training I have to go to), I'll change just the oil before I start. BTW, I just use the regular Suzuki MC oil.
